Canister Filter

Website

Plan on servicing the filter about every 3 weeks once you start feeding the trout fry.  The carbon/ charcoal should be changed at a minimum of every other service.  The sponges and all other filter media in the canister can be rinsed gently in a bucket of freshly siphoned aquarium water.  This goes to help preserve the bacteria.

If you use tap water to rinse the media you will kill the bacteria that have become established in the filter.

At the end of the TIC year, when equipment is broken down, care should be taken to make sure everything is clean and dry.  Carbon/ charcoal should be discarded and replaced when the equipment is restarted the following TIC.

Please keep in mind that these are only basic instructions and that individual circumstances such as water quality, waste load and number of trout will ultimately determine how the filter should be maintained and at what interval.

If you have Filter failure please contact your Chapter TIC Coordinator ASAP
